Next Friday, May 18, 2012 the
Russell Library will celebrate the opening of
The Athens League of Women Voters Records Collection.
Known for their slogan, "the key to good government is citizenship participation" this organization documented the activities of its members from 1948 until 2006 -- creating a record of the grassroots experience and engagement of Athens women involved in political life for more than fifty years.
The Russell Library for Political Research and Studies invites
all former members of the Athens League of Women Voters to join us for a continental breakfast, remarks from former ALWV president Heidi Davison, and a display of artifacts, photographs, and documents from the collection.
This event will take place on
Friday, May 18th from 10:00am - 11:30am in Room 285 of the Richard B. Russell Building for Special Collections Libraries on the UGA Campus. Free parking is available in the Hull Street Parking Deck; for directions and parking information call Jill Severn at (706) 542-5766.
