February 19, 2002
The Richard B. Russell Library for Political Research and Studies and the UGA Authors on Campus series present a lecture by Maurice Daniels, author of Horace T. Ward: Desegregation of the University of Georgia, Civil Rights Advocacy, and Jurisprudence, on Tuesday, February 19 in Room 139 in the Tate Student Center.
Maurice Daniels, professor in the Department of Social Work, will discuss and read from his new book. Dr. Daniels's interest in Horace Ward's quest for social justice grows out of an enduring personal and professional commitment to civil rights issues and history. Daniels is also the senior researcher and executive producer of two award-winning documentaries that chronicle Ward's efforts, the history of desegregation at the University of Georgia, and the N.A.A.C.P.'s success in challenging segregation in higher education.
The lecture is free and open to the public, and refreshments and conversation with the author will follow. Dr. Daniels's book will be available for purchase.
